Apple Crisp with a Twist (Gf, V)

Ingredients

Topping:

  • 1 cup almond flour
  • 1 cup chopped nuts
  • 1 T cinnamon
  • 1 T orange zest
  • 1/4 cup coconut oil
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup

Filling:

  • 3 lbs apples – about 7 or 8 apples depending on the size of the apple
  • 1/4 cup maple syrup
  • Orange juice from 1 orange
  • 1 T cinnamon
  • 2 t vanilla extract

Baking directions

350 degrees for 45 – 50 minutes

Special tools

  • 9 x 13 non-stick pan for baking
  • Cutting board and knife or peeler/corer/slicer for apples
  • Tinfoil for baking

Steps

  1. In a medium/small bowl, mix together the almond flour, nuts, cinnamon, orange zest, maple syrup, and coconut oil.
  2. Peel, core, and slice the apples.
  3. Mix together the maple syrup, orange juice, cinnamon, and vanilla extract.
  4. Spread apples in baking pan.
  5. Pour orange juice mixture over apples.
  6. Spread topping over apples.
  7. Cover pan with tin foil.

Bake for 25 – 30 minutes at 350 degrees
